Castle Flooring recognises the importance of using materials that come from sustainable, renewable resources. Wherever possible, we endeavour to use suppliers who guarantee the provenance of their products.
For example, we use Kahrs who mostly use timber from sustainable Swedish forests. For each tree used, a new tree is planted, guaranteeing that there will be new forests for future generations to enjoy.
Kahrs pride themselves in using the "whole log", as successive parts of the tree are converted into strips and planks. What isn't converted into beautiful floors is used for energy recovery - for heating the factory and parts of the neighbouring community.
Similarly, Amtico has made significant strides to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in its factory in Coventry, installing a 55kW cooling tower pump that has won the company a special award for energy savings.
